Our Mission

The mission of our group is to preserve the memory of Ellison "Tarzan" Brown, by seeking donations for the creation of a life size bronze statue of Tarzan. Once completed, the statue will be housed at Tomaquag Museum's future location, at the University of Rhode Island. This space will be used to showcase and honor Tarzan's legacy as two time winner of the Boston Marathon, Olympic athlete, and member of the Narragansett Indian Tribe

Please note, we are a 501(C)(3) organization

Goal $50,000 -- 40+% Raised

We have initiated this fundraising effort to ensure that one of America's greatest runner's history and accomplishments are not forgotten.  As a member of the Narrangansett Indian Tribe, his success is all the more remarkable.  He grew up in poverty, and essentially with and off the land.  He was a fisherman, hunter and mason, loving husband and father.
